This article lists all system requirements for operating FireStart system components.
FireStart Server
- Operating System: Windows Server 2012 R2 minimum / Windows Server 2019 recommended
- Memory: 32 GB RAM (the more the better)
- Processor: Quad-core x64 CPU
Note: The more cores the more actions will be executed in parallel

Storage: ~1,4 GB available hard drive space
Note: Depending on the use case and the required performance, the hardware requirements can be higher. -
SQL-Server:
- Microsoft SQL Server 2016 SP3 or higher recommended / minimum SQL Server 2016 SP3 Express Edition (limitations of the Express Edition will result in a loss of performance)

Enabled FileStream
Note: Regular database backups are the customers' responsibility. - Recommended: Microsoft SQL Management Studio

Server Certificate (3 options):
- Own certificate via PKI
- Public certificate via Let's Encrypt
- Self-signed certificate, which needs to be rolled out on the clients
Note: The certificate must have a minimum key length of 2048 bytes.

Software:
- .NET 8 SDK
- Internet Information Services 8.0 or higher (with installed ASP.NET) to host the FireStart Process Portal
- .NET Core Hosting Bundle 8
- ASP.NET:
Open Windows Control Panel > Programs
Click Turn Windows Features on or off
Expand Internet Information Services
Expand World Wide Web Services
Expand Application Development Features
Click ASP.NET to add the features that support ASP.NET.
The following additional features are automatically selected:

User accounts:
- A global Security Group "FSadmins" with at least one user (e.g. "FSadmin") as member. Users in this group can administrate the system and automatically have full permissions on all scopes and models on the system.
- One user "PFSservice" as FireStart service user. This user must be a member of the local administrator's group.
- A user with a mailbox on the configured mail provider for FireStart to send task mails and notifications.
Note: The names of the system accounts and groups are adaptable, the number of required system accounts and groups are not modifiable.

Firewall:
- The server must be reachable from all required clients via an adjustable port (Default = 443).
- The FireStart Process Portal can, but doesn’t have to be, hosted on the same port as the FireStart server.
- If the SQL Server and the FireStart server are hosted on different hosts and there is a firewall in between, the TCP ports 139 and 445 must be opened for the FileStream feature.
Remote Event Receiver
- Can be installed stand-alone or on the same machine as the FireStart server.
- Internet Information Services 8.0 or higher (with installed ASP.NET)
- .NET Core 8 Runtime & Hosting Bundle for Windows
FireStart Identity Server
- Can be installed stand-alone or on the same machine as the FireStart server.
- Internet Information Services 8.0 or higher (with installed ASP.NET)
- .NET Core 8 Runtime & Hosting Bundle for Windows
FireStart Client
Clean Installation Required: For this new version, a clean installation of the client software is mandatory for all users.
Prerequisite: Customers must first install .NET8 locally on their machines.
Installation Steps:
- Uninstall any previous version of the client software
- Install .NET8, if not already installed.
- Reinstall the new version of the client software.
Note: Failure to complete a clean installation may result in compatibility issues or application instability.

- Processor: Quad-Core (2.2 GHz)
- Graphic: Graphics card with 1 GB
- Storage: ~25 MB (Program Files) + ~212 MB per user (AppData\Local) available hard drive space

Firewall:
- The client needs to reach the server via one adjustable port (Default = 443).

Optional:
- To use the Auto Translation feature in the client, the web service http://api.microsofttranslator.com/v2/Http.svc must be reachable without any additional proxy server authentication.
- To use the integrated Feedback feature, the web service http://demo.firestart.at/_layouts/Prologics.ExceptionWS.asmx must be reachable.
FireStart Outlook Add-In
- Microsoft Outlook 2013 or higher (32- and 64-bit Office versions are supported)
- .NET 8 SDK
FireStart Process Portal
- Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari
- The client machine also needs to be able to reach the FireStart server on its configurable port (Default = 443).
FireStart SharePoint TaskList
- Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2013 or Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013
